Can Apple's iPad Help The Economy To Move Out Of Recession? - reposted by Andre DiCioccio

This is a common question that may arise in most of our minds. When we see the large sales of Apple iPad and the rocketing profits of Apple, most of us doubt whether it would lead to an economic recovery. This has happened in the past. A gadget which was born on the deepest recession since the Great Depression was called a break-through device. Most Americans were fighting over this gadget which made the suppliers run short on their stock. That magical product was the IBM PC. It was in the year 1983, and the economy was passing through tough times. Due to the tech boom that happened with large number of sales of IBM PC’s, the economy was offered a slight relief. The IBM personal computer became the icon of American households and it helped the economy to reinvent itself and move forward.

Why is Apple iPad expected to do the same thing for the US economy? Because of the record breaking sales that it has achieved so far. Launched on April 3rd in the US markets, this small tablet computer has so far sold more than one million units. On the first day of the launch, approximately 300,000 units of iPad were sold all across America. With the global launch dates of the iPad being announced, the total sales of the iPad would be something around 5 million units in this year.

The iPads parent company Apple is booming. With the success of iPad, the value of the company in the stock exchanges has reached new levels. It has announced record revenues and profits for the last quarter of 2009. The main reasons for the strong results are the increase in sales of Mac personal computers and the phones. With the strong performance of iPad, the coming quarters would be also of higher growth for Apple and there are many who expect that Apple would lead the US economy into recovery.

Will they lead us into growth? Only time will tell.
